Scottish Parliament Building
The striking and most certainly unique Scottish Parliament building designed by renowned Spanish architect Enric Miralles rests at the bottom of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. Construction of this outlandish building commenced in June 1999 with members of the now devolved Scottish Parliament holding their first debate in the new Chamber in September 2004. With such distinguished neighbours as the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland, and the Queen's Gallery it’s very easy to visit these attractions all in one visit.
You can watch live debates from the Public Galleries, brush up on your history with the visiting exhibitions, take the guided tour or simply wander around the Scottish Parliament Building and use the available leaflets for information, however the guided tour allows access to parts of the Scottish Parliament Building which are not otherwise accessible. The tours take you from the Main Hall to the floor of the Chamber to see where the MSPs meet to debate and decide on the issues that matter to the people of Scotland.
You will also visit a Committee Room and explore further into the building, to allow views of the MSPs office block and historic Queensberry House.
